Great course great price.
I was a little hesitant after reading some of the reviews on here about playing here, I assumed how good of course could it be for $25. And if like previous reviews stated if it's slow then why bother. Well fortunately a random pairing at a diff course said "you have to try it, it's my favorite" I got a great deal on here and went out solo. After one round I like this course the most out of any I have played in the area via golf now. The conditions were great, the lay out challenging, 95% of the greens were in perfect n challenging shape and the bunkers looked good though for once I stayed out of them. The staff was great and I didn't have any issues with pace of play until the 17th. Maybe it's bc I had a good round (83, good for me) but I really found this course a nice balance of challenging, esthetically pleasing and enjoyable. Ok it is not without its faults. Navigating from hole to hole can be slightly interesting though the do a good job pointing you in the right direction. They need to improve the yardage indicators on the fairways and the ball washers are slightly dry and out dated. But that aside I will be playing there lots more in the future.
Much improved
Played this course twice last year, once in the summer and once in the late fall. Last year, both times, the course was virtually vacant and the course was not in great shape. The greens were eaten out, tee boxes were worn out and the fairways were almost nonexistent. This year there are people everywhere, playing golf, at the pool and on the tennis courts. The golf course was in much, much better shape then it was last year. Greens are in great shape, tee boxes have grass, and the fairways are well maintained. Can't wait to play here again during the late fall.
Getting better!
I played the day after a rain storm at 11:30 a.m. The staff informed us that all carts were to stay on the main cart path. They painted temporarily designated cart paths through the rough along the fairways for holes that did not have any cart path, but only to one side of the fairway. Of course, my ball was always distant to the cart path, on the opposite side of the fairway. This made it difficult to access the shot, a frustrating issue. I would have been better off walking. I felt the course was dry enough for carts, but I know their trying to improve. I just don't understand the logic of using and flattening the rough with carts. Use the fairway, it is drier, there will be less damage. I've played this course a number of times over the years. The management should give some serious consideration to the sequencing of holes in relation to the cart path. Follow the hole number signs, it can become confusing. I like the course and had a good round. Greens were in good shape, a few with a small blemish on the outer edge, no big deal. Fairways were in good shape, much, much better than last year. Sand traps were wet but there was sufficient sand in them. Good job by the management, the effort to improve this course is showing, Don't expect to eat here, the restaurant is closed.
Too slow on a thursday afternoon
Course was in good condition, play was way slow for a Thursday afternoon
paid for 18 but after 3 hours on front nine had to leave....
same maintainer as Oxford Greens. Course is much better condition wise then in past
Price was very good !
T - Boxes were poor in condition. Course should allow cart to go to vehicle to load and unload clubs.
Horribly slow!
Starter put 2 foursomes out on the 10th tee before the group ahead of us who were making the turn- took 5 1/2 hours to complete the round. Bunkers were cement and greens inconsistent, as was the rough. Friendly enough staff but no rangers on the course to help move play along. Some very pretty vistas.
However, only paid $24 so I guess you get what you pay for!
good value
Course was fine..enjoyed the layout..food midway round overpriced for a 2" grilled cheese but overall good experience
Good course
The layout of the course invited many overlapping shots from adjacent tee boxes. Tee boxes and fair ways were in great shape, the greens however were inconsistent and added a layer of difficulty, additionally the bunkers were inconsistent as well. Overall, a great staff and I enjoyed the course overall.
Overall Great Experience
A great day at a great course. A large variety of holes across rolling hills. Professional staff makes you feel like you are a private member. Tricky greens make you think. I will be back for sure.
CC of Woodbridge
As with great late spring / early summer weather course was in good conditions except bunkers which were totally unplayable due to rain 48 hours earlier. Seem like they had not been power raked in weeks hard pack dirt which was ok for fairways but could not get under the ball greenside. Also please don't let kids off back 9. played front in under 2hrs. then had groups of kids who went off the 10th kill the back. jumped around and got in our 18 by replaying a few and jumping ahead a few. love that kids are playing but please go off the 1st
Tooooooo Slow
There was no starter on the first tee and the play got worse after that. We played 12 holes and waited on every tee box. After 3 1/2 hours of frustration in extremely humid conditions we left!
Nice affordable course
I like the layout very much. Wish they had the club house open like last year. Would be nice to have a beverage after the round. What's up with that?
Great course
Great grounds good price holes were challenging and fun
Bring your A putting game
Not too many straight putts or flat. Course has good verity of holes.very adventures navagating around the course hole by hole.
paper scorecards
scorecards were xerox copies..
sad to see the greens so bad on a course that used to be known for great greens!
we'll try again next yr!
the most dissapointing round of golf i ever had
my tee time through golf now was for 11;32 that's funny because the course already booked an 11;28 tee time for someone else. never the less we had to wait for an hour and a half. they over booked the course big time. there wasn;t even enough carts for everyone. then I think because of fathers day and they didn't want the course beat up they said cart path only which at this course is crazy. if I didn't pay golf now up front we would have left. except for a frost or fog delay, I never ever in 40 years had to wait an hour and a half. I feel we should be compt. did not enjoy the round at all and will never go back. I guess anyone else better call the course ahead of time to see if there are any carts and how long the wait is. I don't think golf now should advertise this course especially after they try to just sneak golf nows tee off time in .
course has been greatly improved
Play was kind of slow but I guess you would expect that on a Sunday. Rough was kind of high which slowed play looking for balls. Much improved course this year.
Save your time
Greens are shabby and slow. Fairways are patchy. Clubhouse is falling apart. Pro shop is poorly stocked. Not one speck of sand in a bunker..,,all dirt. At the 4.5 hr mark we drove in finishing 13 holes. We were told there was a beverage cart... Never saw it. Group in front of us was so slow and never saw a ranger... In fact one guy in the group ahead of us was playing in his undershirt! If you are looking for a great old course that has has been destroyed... This is your place... Especially if you're looking for a course with lots of tee shirts, jeans and cigarettes!
almost...
The course took some major blows since going public. The bad winter only increased tge problems. This will be a top course again with food maintance and TLC. As far as the need for a road map. U betcha but it always was that way.. So try to look past and see tgis course for the challange and beauty
Poor Planning
Made an 11:30 time and arrived to find out there was a tournament going on and they were running behind. Which is doable as long as the wait wasn't to long, but it was approximately 1 hour. Apparently they started on the back nine and all the groups had to make the turn to one before we could get out. This was the first issue.
The second issue is when we checked in we were told we had the first time after the tournament, okay fine that means a slow front but quick backside. But as the last group went thru now we we're told to follow a threesome that appeared out of nowhere. When I asked the starter he told me they were the first group etc. which I already knew was a joke. Then what made it worse was when we made the turn the threesome that was supposedly first left and never returned. It was great because we were able to cruise the back but to be lied to to was just terrible.
Probably won't be back to soon.
