Staff is excellent
Amazing that I have not played here before the last couple of weeks (I have been there 4 times now in those 2 weeks). Everything is good about this place, especially the people who work there. Starters/Rangers Steve and Don were (and the other 2 guys, didn't get your names).
I had a terrific sandwich inside after one round, too, and the lady there was very nice as was the one who checked me in.
The course- terrific. Greens are fast and fun, I like that the course is pretty wide open and you can just pound the heck out if it. Also like that you have to think out a lot of shots to keep out of trouble.
Kind of slow play was my only negative but it makes you take your time and enjoy the ride.
Great course but fix your ball marks!
Other than having to fix my ball marks plus at least five others on every green, the course was great. Greens were rolling nicely. Starter was older than dirt and was as grouchy as being up at 530 AM will make you. Course was interesting and challenged you to go for it on some and made you think on other holes. Wasn’t fond of the driving range being (1) far away from the clubhouse and (2) not open until 7am. Would’ve liked to hit some pre-round shots. Overall, I’m definitely looking to play here again soon.
Classic links course
Took me about five holes to realize why I kept coming up short, as it's a links course which often feature long run-ups to the green, so you think you hit the green but you are on a closely moved area in front.
Considering the recent rain, the course was in great shape. All we needed was for the two we paired up with to have any uderstanding whatsoever of the basic rules of golf, and to not completely suck. Mulligans are NOT free, and can't be used on every hole, lol. My partneer did a much better job of ignoring the circus, and carded a 77. I let it all get to me, and my score suffered. A ranger coming along to speed us up would have been great.
A pleasant afternoon of 18h play
Easy to book on golf now! Hot deals for low cost with cart. No other fees to pay at check-in. All in all a good time. I was single player and people i was paired with were very pleasant and fun. Great round!
Met Expectations
Was paired with 2 better than average and enjoyable players. Two groups in front of us were slow players and did not show their experience or etiquette by playing up to the group in front of them. Staff was friendly as always and despite the rain deficit this Spring, the course was in very good condition.
Love this course
A hidden gem with a great clubhouse Course was in great shape exceptional practice facility with driving range and short game practice area. I would really recommend anyone going there It's a really unique layout I've never golf there with anyone who didn't like it.
Great Spring Golf
The course was in decent shape for early in the season. The greens were pretty quick and UNpunched not like many other course in the area currently. I love the how open this course is and the uniqueness of each hole.
Good pace again, finally
I started playing this course a couple years ago and kept coming back because the pace was so good. Recently, the pace had become slow, but this round went at a brisk 4 hours. It's still early in the season in the northeast, so the conditions are continually improving. I was taken by surprise by how fast the greens were. Fun layout, with a lot of birdie holes, particularly from the white tees. I shot an 81 and my handicap will go up.
Love this course!
Shot my best score ever the other day! Course is looking great for how early in the season is. Greens were a bit inconsistent, but I attribute this to it still being early in the season. Can’t wait to be back! Loved the danish!
Pace of play has become an issue
I started playing Scottish Highlands regularly a couple years ago. I could generally find a good Hot Deal, and I enjoyed the course. It's a fairly forgiving layout, and there are a bunch of birdie holes, particularly if you play the white tees. One of the things I liked best when I first started playing the course was the pace of play. Rounds, even early on a weekend afternoon, generally took 4 hours. Last year (2021), the rounds suddenly were taking 4 1/2 hours. This past weekend's round, 11:00 am on Masters' Sunday, took 4:45. The front nine took 2 1/2 hours. We got hit with some sleet on the back nine, and I think that may have cause some people to leave, otherwise the back nine would have led to a 5 hour round. I'm not sure why this has happened, and I hope the trend reverses.
Great Course, Great Deal
The 18 holes with lunch and a cart deal is a great value
