A long par-4, the second has an open driving zone. This beautiful hole also shows the secluded, parkland nature of Tekoa. Photo submitted by AptlyLinked on 07/10/2022
-
Hole three, par-3: Tekoa is a “Golden Age” course, and this forced carry over the pond may be the only real nod to modern design. Photo submitted by AptlyLinked on 07/10/2022

At seven (looking back over the hole here), you’ll first encounter the double green shared by this hole and the sixteenth. Photo submitted by AptlyLinked on 07/10/2022

Twelve: The towering pines on this par-5 (along with those of the 13th) appear to reach as high as the columns in a medieval cathedral. Photo submitted by AptlyLinked on 07/10/2022

Seventeen is a long and difficult par-4 stretching to 445 from the back tees. It also doglegs right–at a 90 degree angle. Photo submitted by AptlyLinked on 07/10/2022

Safari club first outing
Played with Safari club for first time last week. They always start and end season at Tekoa. Great course, friendly staff. Great location and fun, fun.
Safari club is a great group. So organized and informative.
Can't wait to return to play again b
Thanks for having us E.J.!
I was part of The Safari Club's opening round at Tekoa and I have to say that it was in great shape! The greens had been just plugged but they were fast and true. The fairways were cut perfectly and we never looked for a better lie.
The staff was pleasant, the food was good and prices right so why wouldn't you get a group to play there?
This is one of our hidden gems in Western Mass so don't miss your chance to play Tekoa if you get the chance!
Fun Track Great value
Played in our first Safari Golf club outing , the tarck as always was in great shape! The pace of play was very good .
EJ and his crew make you feel at home and very welcome.
Comfortable course to play
Played this past Wednesday with the Safari Club. Had a great time, great group, great course and great friends. Our group was so large, over 100 that a lunch buffet was provided for us for a small price. I love Donald Ross courses and truly enjoy Tekoa. The condition of the course was great and the weather couldn't have been better. I all be back to play again. This was our destination from work once a year and my office also enjoyed it.
Good course to return to
Played with the Safari group and found the course in great shape as usual for this time of year...Greens were recently aerarated but putted well....a little slow though
See you in the fall or possibly sooner
A Course to Keep in Mind
I had a great day with the Safari Club on Wednesday at Tekoa. I played pretty badly, but it was impossible not to have a wonderful time with good company, beautiful weather and a very well laid out and well-maintained track. At least a few holes give a view of the Westfield River and several others allow sights of the lower Berkshires. The course itself is a great blend of scenic straight and dogleg fairways, with plenty of challenges, but still a very fair course.
Staff in the pro shop and 19th hole are friendly and helpful. It's a great place to spend a day of golf.
Do you like feeling welcomed?
The Safari Club journeyed to Tekoa for its season opener yesterday. They do so every year, as well as finishing off their season at the same venue.
It's not surprising they chose this course to play twice each year. Great layout, great conditions, great food and an extremely pleasant and courteous staff make this course a FIVE STAR value know matter how you look at it.
Always in great condition.
The Safari Club of Golf is a great group of golfers that I play with as much as possible. Our season opener was at Tekoa Country Club on May 18th 2016. The course was in midseason shape, probably due to the very mild winter in New England. The fairways are in great shape, The greens are large and moderately fast, and were putting very true. Pro EJ Altobello was gracious and very accommodating to our group as usual, and a good time was had by all. Kudos to the kitchen staff and bartenders, for the good food and cold beer!
Enjoyable Course
Played this yesterday with the Safari Club. Very nice and fair course. Conditions were very good for this time of year. Tee boxes and fairways were excellent. Greens were recently aerated and top-dressed, but still putted well--allbeit a little slow. Would definitely play again.
Fun to play
Played the course with the Safari Club and enjoyed it very much. The course was in very good condition for this time of year. Looking forward to play it again in the near future. Always a pleasure.
Great way to start our Safari season
We always start our Safari season at Tekoa. It is a great course to start with, conditions were excellent, staff is friendly and very accommodating. I would highly recommend Tekoa Country Club.
Safri Club Outing
After playing this course last week, I went back again today with the Safari Club (a great golf organization). I again thoroughly enjoyed the golf course, the people and the friends I've made with the Safari club. Tekoa is a great place to play an enjoyable round of golf.
opening day for the Safari Golf Club
Today I played at Tekoa Country Club in Westfield mass with the Safari Club. We had a super time and the staff at Tekoa was great. They made us feel very welcome and the course was in great shape. Cannot wait to come back in Oct. and close out our season with the Safari Club at Tekoa.
Beautiful course
The Safari Club opened it's season playing Tekoa Country Club today. This course is in very nice condition and the pro EJ is always very friendly and welcoming. I highly recommend you play this course if you are ever in the area looking for an affordable and wonderful course, you won't be disappointed.
Wide open
Just played with the Safari Club. Everything was ready for us when we got there. Course was in good shape. Greens were a bit slow because they had sanded them. The meal could have been better for the price. Other then that I had a good time.
Great golf at Tekoa
I found Tekoa Country Club to be a great course to play. They had great fairways and challenging greens to make this a wonderful experience. The staff was very friendly and the food was great and affordable.
I will definitely go back
really wanted to like this course
It is a nice course, but that's about all the nice things I can say about it. We paid a fairly steep price of $50 and right off the bat the pro shop worker was less than personable. No big deal. We were constantly waiting behind the groups in front of us which slowed down the pace of play to a crawl. It was mid morning and we were hungry for a snack but it became clear to us that there was no snack cart like there is at many other lesser priced courses. We figured we'd finish the front 9 and get lunch only to find out that there was no food being served that day. We also had to deal with a cart with a non-working brake which meant we had to be strategic about parking so it didn't roll.. We were very surprised about our experience considering the price to play. We are weekly players and sometimes a few times a week. We didn't feel it was worth our $50 each and in all likelihood we won't be going back
A fine challenging course!
The course is in very good condition for the fall. THe greens are extremely fast with a lot of slope and undulation - not easty to read, and when the sun is out, difficult to hold. The turf everywhere is in excellent shape. Play was a bit slow, due to a fair amount of "putting to the last put" the groups in front of us, which seemed to be long-standing members.
Well maintained, nice greens
As in playing a new course, there are always decisions to be made on club selection, where to target, etc. Course layout was good, greens were great (in my opinion). I was a 4.5 and lost a chunk of distance, as well as using hybrids, which have no ball action on green...they bound. Not much I could do. Greens rolled true. Nice job. J
Great Value
Two couples played on a very hot day. The course was not busy at all. The greens were very good, the rough is cut to allow quick play. The few traps are well maintained. We arrived early and were able to go out at once, we stopped for a sandwich that we took out on the back nine. the food was excellent, the staff accommodating and naturally friendly. we got all this for $86 for a foursome and $40 for lunch tip included.
