Fantastic course

Great track. Conditions were superb! Staff super friendly. Only downside was stuck behind a foursome of VERY slow walkers for about 5 holes but after I skipped a hole and scooted by them the course was wide open. Highly recommend this Donald Ross gem.

Hidden Gem only recently open to public

Perfect tee boxes, great fairways and everything you’d expect from a Donald Ross design.

The fescue and bunkers are well placed. I had a couple shots that were just near misses and it seemed to get me in trouble everytime. Accuracy over length here but still a challenging well taken care of 18.

Loved driving through the garage, thought that was a quaint feature of an almost 125 year old course.

A young staff member there chatted with me for about ten minutes on the course and felt well received even tho I was not a member.

Will certainly be back again

Religion

The moment we arrived in the parking lot, we were met with a friendly and more than gracious host. He made us feel welcomed immediately.

The Course is in a word; Amazing! But this is a Donald Ross Course and it while that may be true in every case, this one is a religious experience. The Tee boxes were perfect and tilted slightly away from what you think maybe your line, but your wrong.Donald Ross( Like God) is smarter than you. Have faith and trust his judgement.

The Fairways were velvet and the false fronts were like walking up the steps to the Kingdom of Heaven!

The Greens, Oh you'll be Calling his name " Oh God" these Greens. Be ready for a conversion to the 3 putt. Perfection is not an apt description. Amazing Grace is needed...

For me, this is what golf was intended to be....This is an experience and an opportunity to feel something bigger than you...I was truly at peace and was reminded how blessed I was to walk these fairways. Trust me, you'll feel it too....Thank you Donald Ross / Agawam and all of those who've worked hard all of these years to allow me the privilege....

Not a Top Course

Played this course entirely based on the ranking of it among golf courses in Rhode Island and I was very let down. I'm not sure what is comparable in Rhode Island but compared to both Pinehills courses and Granite Links in Massachusetts, this is basically a municipal course. In fact, I'd say it's most similar to George Wright or Franklin Park. The layout of this course is way too short and was even recently dropped down to a par 69. It is very hard to lose a ball on this course and even if you miss a fairway, it's still easy to make a birdie. Overall, would not go back.

Very Good Challenge

We were greeted well and were able to tee off at the appointed time. There were very few people on the course early in the day. Being a private course there is almost no signage. Doug gave us a brief description of the layout which helped a lot. While the course plays at just over 6000 yards it plays long. Lots of uphills and soft fairways so they ball didn’t run forever. The rough is not high but very “clingy”. Lots of fun and frustration. Other than water and lava on the course there were no amenities for nonmembers. Couldn’t even buy a soft drink. Bring food and beverages!!

Agawam Hunt Sunday

Wow!! Really great old school New England golf at its finest It’s an upscale private club so lounge, driving range and locker room are off limits so I can’t comment on off course amenities. Golf course plays short at 6156 yards from the back tees First 7 holes plays on side of street where clubhouse is. #3 a par 5 played a little longer than on card as the fairway is damp. #6 is a strong long par 5 that plays slight dogleg right where a long drive is required to play this hole. #7 is a short par 4 that’s very picturesque. After 7 the golf course picks up on other side of a street, this is by far the best section of the course. #9,10,12, 14 are really great memorable holes. Some play downhill to fairways that are protected by bunkers and high fescue grass. If your ball finds the fescue it’s a tough job to find it. When the course picks back across the street again at 15 is a great dogleg left around a pond. Not a lot of water hazards on Agawam but there’s plenty of trouble spots if you don’t play well. This was a bucket list course that lived up to my anticipation. Never mind the off course amenities go for the course. You won’t be disappointed

I said I'd be back

As you can see in the review I did last year for Agawam Hunt I said I'd be back and this was the day. My buddy and I are playing in a fourball tournament here in mid-July and I told he that he needs to play the course before the tournament. Once again Agawam Hunt did not disappoint. The layout is really fantastic and constantly changing. The course on one side of the street is totally different than the other. On the clubhouse side you don't see a ton of elevation changes and the course is a little tighter than the other side and has a lot more water. When you cross over, I believe it is after the seventh hole, you will see vast elevation changes and a much more open course. The great equalizers at Agawam Hunt are the very quick greens and the fescue that lines every hole. If you get the chance to play here take it, this is one of the best Ross layouts I have played and my playing partner was really happy that he got the chance to see the layout before we play it for real next month.
