Best Course Around!!!!!
Great Staff and the golf course is the best around!!
Always in great shape, convenient, a decent challenge
I really like Weathervane. If you overlook the lack of clubhouse and make peace with playing 9x2 to make 18, it's a really great experience. The course is not long but it's not a lay up to play, either. It's a good challenge and the course is always in very good shape. The staff are friendly and helpful. It's a good South Shore option though easily reachable from Greater Boston. I plan to play Weathervane frequently this year.
Nice little course
Quite nice 9 hole layout. Not too hard. The course conditions were very good, fairways, greens etc. can't remember any bad lies due to disrepair. Rough is up to add a bit of difficulty, which is a good thing. Play two different tees for 1st and 2nd nines helps mix it up.
Nice track
Nice layout for 9 holes, though not very challenging. Great shape, offers a few water guarded greens, bunkers all raked and soft. Not worth $55 but definitely the $15 I paid through Golf Now
Unknown Gem
Have played this golf course three times and find it to be very enjoyable to play. Although it is flat you have to play smart and not simply hit away. the course has been in tremendous shape.
nice course
First time at Weathervane. If you can get past the "clubhouse is a trailer" thing and juat want to play on a really well kept, nice looking and relatively forgiving course on the South Shore, give it a try. I would prefer a full 18 layout but only played 9 anyway as a solo early Sunday. Was done in about 90 minutes. Could be a bit less expensive ($40 for 9 with cart). I will definitely be back.
Great Day for Golf!!
Had a great day of golf, course was in great shape and staff were super friendly. Thank you
This course is a joke
I am so glad I waited for a hot deal to try this course (and at 1/2 price I still paid too much). I felt bad thinking that most of the golfers I was stuck behind had paid full-price.
The only positive thing I can say is that the greens were in good shape and the bunkers were neatly raked.
It in stuck in around this condo village, there were exactly 2 holes I felt comfortable hitting driver on (from the very tips).
The parking lot was not paved and it was a free for all to find a spot. The "proshop" is a 1/2 office trailer with a guy in a folding chair with little bags of tees for sale.
The few yardages I checked weren't close (100 yard marker on one hole measure 80 yards on my gps).
And the pace of play was excruciating. There are some holes where you do not only have to wait for the group in front of you to clear the green before you hit, you have to wait for the to tee off too because the tee is so close to the green.
After playing 9 holes I came around to number 1 again and saw a foursome about 20 yards beyond the ladies tee on the 240 yard par 4 and just gave up and left.
Great place!
I am a beginner golfer and I love this course.
When they finish the clubhouse it will be great.
The staff is awesome!
nice track
The "clubhouse" is still under development (just a trailer in the parking lot right now) but the course itself is in great shape. Nice layout, good mix of distances, and some pretty challenging greens. Carrying the junk (about 280 yds out?) on the left side of the 5th hole to cut off the slight left bend in the fairway is always satisfying. 9th hole is an island green, lay up and drop it on with a wedge.
Outstanding Greens
Weathervane has an excellent variety of holes and tee boxes to suit every golfer. What really stood out was the greens. Very fast, in excellent condition, and they rolled very true.
Great Value
For the price I thought this was a great course. Greens were in great condition, and the staff was very friendly. Will definitely play again.
Slow pace
Overall I liked the golf course. Only problem with the golf course itself was on two tee boxes, playing from the back tees, there were overhanging trees. Only way to hit a drive was to go under these trees. It looked like one of the tee boxes was never used so they let it go. Biggest problem was pace of play. Played the front nine in 1:30 minutes. When we went to play it again, it took 3 hours to play the first 4 1/2 holes before we walked off. No one there to guide the players jumping on to the ones finishing their first nine. This place is a mile from my house and I don't think I'll ever play there again because of pace of play.
NO WATER NO FOOD 9 hole course!
Course has zero water on the holes and no food options what so ever. Water in the clubhouse (trailer) was in a dirty old fridge with employees sandwiches and there was 3 available at 1PM on a Sunday. I would not come back.
Didn't expect much but expected more
First time golfing here and most likely the last. For the money there are far better choices in the South Shore. Now I made the reservation late Saturday and was happy to get an a.m.tee time and honestly that's when I normally do courses that I haven't played before. The next morning I went to their web site to get the address and found the same open tee time as I booked the night before for the same price and no 3rd party cost, not a big deal four bucks isn't the end of the world but I most certainly will double check in the future. So the morning started off great, got there early paid our fee and hit out earlier than expected which is rare for Sunday golf. The first thing one notices is the lack of 18 holes and also no clubhouse. Pretty sure they opened the course in 2010 but to still be rocking a trailer and charging 65 for 18 with only 9 holes to offer seems steep, again you can get over it. The first hole was clear and is a 260 par 4 from the blues, actually on the green in 1 and hit an eagle to start which has never happened for me before so I thought I was in love. By hole 6 my Gatorade was gone and I began to notice that there was no where to fill it up at any hole, the next 12 holes were tough to get through and its tough to knock a course that had great greens, white bunkers and some of the finest rough I've played this year for something like this but when it started to get hotter and more golfers had started their day the pace came to a crawl and that $65 for 18 was something I saw as a too much. I hate playing 9 and being done but this actually would be the course to do it on. In the end I didn't hate it but will be going elsewhere next Sunday.
Nice 9 hole course
Overall course conditions were good ! The facilities were poor because there aren't any . Under construction.
Can Blast your Driver on 6 holes!
I like to work the ball, and you can do it here! Great friendly staff! The Rangers move play along when needed and are quite professional! Many people say it's an easy course! If you can't shoot, or break par at any course, then that course is not easy!!! 1,or 2 over etc, and the course wins!
Weathervane Golf Course
Weathervane is a hidden jewel in an over 55 community in Weymouth. It was in excellent condition with smooth fairways and greens. The rough was a bit long and sometimes difficult to get out of. The layout is challenging and each hole provides a new experience. The last hole demands target golf with the green on an island that you must hit on to. We were two women golfing and we played off the white tees to give us more of a challenge. There is no clubhouse, but I would recommend Weathervane.
hidden gem ?
I thought this place was weymouths hidden gem, well although i enjoyed my round, i had no idea that there was no clubhouse, and only 9 holes, but the condition of the 9 holes was superb, i think i will wait until there is some kind of amenities before i play there again
South Shore secret
Nice course in a new development. range of tees for various skill levels. Its a 9 holer, but can make holes different by changing tees. Good course for those who don't hit the ball long, but still need to think and plan shots ahead.
Sorry to hear about your negative experience at WGC. It is a very nice 9 holes course that is in super shape. It is a little pricey , but when the club house is finished and all the amenities are in place, it will be a great destination. Not all course are made for everyone, but this place is really enjoyed by the majority of players. They have made some changes and pace of play is much improved. The staff is extremely friendly and want everyone to enjoy their round. Hopefully your next experience here is better if you play again.
