Terrible Food Service
They have a site to place an online order so we do that at the 9th hole. Get to the street Cafe to pick it up and she says the order never came. 2 people came out of the kitchen to say they don't use that site anymore but it still charged me. So instead they bring me food I didn't order and it was all wrong. Very dissatisfied with the service and overall accommodation for their mistake. There was nobody enforcing any kind of rules, an 8 person scramble just decided to jump in at hole 10 which ruined pace of play. Would never recommend anybody go here.
This course is well maintained and challenging , hit it straight here, length is secondary
Beautiful golf course with excellent staff!!! Greens are well kept, nice tees and fairways. Still river meanders though so course management is key. Every season the course maintenance is excellent
Great course in Western CT
There are some great tracks in western Connecticut and Candlewood Valley one of them. A challenging course design and less expensive than other 18 hole courses nearby. Staff are very friendly and welcoming. Pace of play is great on the weekdays much busier and slower on the weekends. Greens are in great condition and challenging. There are some tree line holes and fairways that will challenge your golf abilities and other holes that are wider and allow you to bomb away if you do choose. Sometimes the course is windy and very challenging to make par or bogey. But that’s golf.
Better Gem Than The Neighboring Town
First time playing here. Have lived in Danbury for 4 years and am so mad I am just now getting to this course. Had a huge rain the night before and the water really only sat on the cart paths. Greens, fairways and tee boxes were in great shape. Will play here again ASAP
They need to add sand to all the sand traps they are nothing but dirt
Staff was not friendly
Father was told he would get the senior rate and was charged full price. Also was paired with one random which i never mind but had league players behind us and never once held them up or where they waiting in the tee box for us but was advised 3 times through out the round to speed up when never once was it needed. Finished under 4hrs. Club house were rude, ranger was rude. Any more then $50 course is not worth it. Not the first time i have had a bad experience their
Golf Course
I play here a lot . It’s Soring and the course is VERY wet and soggy. Course generally in good shape - bunkers need more sand filled
Nice course
Nice course! First time there! The sand on the green was annoying but overall very pleasant experience.
Great experience
Great layout some easy holes some tough , some narrow fairways water in play on a few holes , nice and spread out ,good signage for getting from hole to hole, Lot of great views , mountains in background couple fountains, tall grass in the marsh areas looked cool . I thought it was a fair challenge
Greens were good some more dinged up then others , they rolled good, fair amount of slope on most greens , they seemed fast today 7/10
Fairways were average 6/10
Bunkers were ok no rocks all clean but a heavy sand but always consistent 6/10
Rough was average not always perfect 7/10
Putting and chipping green was in great shape 7 flags , good size 8/10
iron only range ( there was a big group lesson so they said I couldn’t use range and that it was private , not sure if anyone can use it )
-Practice green , range, cart barn, pro shop , restaurant and mobile bar are all conveniently right next to each other near the 1st and 10th tee 10/10
-Beverage cart was great always around at the right time , super friendly and good drinks 10/10
-Electric carts, no gps, super comfortable seat cushion, my cart seemed a little slow , can’t take them in parking lot
-Not very hilly at all definitely walkable
All cart paths are crushed stone and dirt , kinda dusty
Meh
Flat boring tight , stupid tight holes with small greens. A little miss and u are In the woods or water. Descent conditions ok greens
Very nice greens
This is a great inexpensive course decent layout. Staff is very pleasant and speed of play was good . Would definitely recommend !
Candlewood gc
Very nice and challenging GC. Well maintained. Easy going staff.
Pleasantly surprised.
I had not played CVGC in many years. I was impressed. The course was green and in decent shape. The greens rolled well. Most importantly, I played this with a friend on a Friday afternoon of a long holiday weekend in June and we got around in 4 hours on the button. We waited on a few tee shots on some holes, but the pace of play was far better than I expected. I will be back.
If you’re mad about the food at a golf course, maybe golf isn’t your thing…
