Hickory Ridge Golf Course in Amherst is one of western Massachusetts' premier courses. It plays across a gently rolling landscape accented with mature tree that offers an especially scenic round in the fall thanks to the changing colors of the foliage. The course has some subtle contours but it is still pleasantly walkable and offers just enough of a challenge to appeal to low and high handicappers alike. The layout consists of an interesting variety of holes including some that are long, a few doglegs, and also some birdie opportunities. The golf course finishes with one of the area's most memorable holes. This long par 4 calls for an accurate tee shot in order to avoid the river on the left and the rough on the right. The challenges don't end there either with a second shot to a wide, elevated green protected by large, deep bunkers.

Challenging course with interesting holes.
This course has it all....length, lush fairways and tee boxes, large greens, well trapped, water, and challenging holes. When you play well here you leave feeling good about your game. Excellent and knowledgeable staff and well managed course. Nice bar and screened porch overlooking the course. Great place to relax after your round.

Great, fun course with different hole layouts and a few challenging par 4's.

Great weather for April. Coarse was dry and very playable. We will be back.
Course has varied tees for all levels
The Google Map directions were a disaster. I called knowing that we would be late. The staff couldn't have been more accommodating. A great value on a perfect golf day. Because we were late we ended up behind an absolutely terrible threesome. First nine in 2 and a half hours, back nine in just under two hours. The greens had been aerated so were a little bumpy and slow, remainder of the course was fine.
Nice course, good condition.
Beautiful views, course in good condition, staff very friendly. will play again.
A Day at Hickory Ridge
Great day off from work playing at Hickory Ridge. The course was in very good shape and the pace of play was just under 4 hours.
Beautiful day
All went well. They were ready for us with our tee time. Hooked us up with two other wonderful gentlemen. Played 18 in just under 4 hrs and had a great time.
great greens
Had a fun day..course was a little wet in spots due to rain earlier in the day..but greens rolled very true and pretty quick as well. Great value for the money for sure
Nice round of golf
This course is challenging and has some interesting holes with difficult decisions. It can be quite soggy after a rain as it was the round I played. Overall pace of play is generally quick. With a few more renovations around tee boxes it would look a lot nicer.
Average Course but didn't take rain well.
The course was okay. I enjoyed playing it but I had two issues with it. The first issue was that it had rained the night before and the course did not take rain very well. A lot of the course was puddles and the greens were extremely slow because they didn't soak up any of the water. The second issue I had was that we really weren't sure where to go. There are no signs pointing to the next tee box and the score card didn't have a map on it. Luckily we partnered up with somebody who had played there before and he was able to direct us around. I think I would have been lost looking for the next tee box a few times if we didn't have somebody there. Other than that it was a nice course to play.

Had a great time. Course looked and played great. Played during the week and moved along fast.
nice cours
We played in the morning so the grass was wet for a while but greens became much faster when they dried up. It is a narrow course that is pretty on the eyes. It does not have many defined cart paths which was odd to me. Greens were fast and worth the trip from Connecticut. would play again.

Nice track, great value @ $37
Played the back tee's on Memorial Day with my two sons. Group ahead of us didn't show so we got off a little early. One of my sons played the course a week earlier when it had been flooded due to heavy storms. Course had recovered well as we found only a few areas still affected. Greens had been aerated earlier and hadn't recovered as well but that most likely was due to the weather. In any case the greens were inconsistent and bumpy.
I had loaded my GPS with the course and found huge discrepancies between the GPS and course markings. We never were sure of yardages on the par threes especially.
Overall it's worth a play. In a week or two with dryer weather I'd expect playing conditions to get nice. We did see numerous workers out on the course. The track is good and challenging. I'll play it again later in the year.
A Pleasant Suprise
When I arrived at the course every staff member could not have been more helpful or informative. Course conditions were very wet due to all the rain but otherwise very good. I will definitely be back to play the course in dry weather.
Amazing Course
Little Publicity of this course, but it is truly a hidden gem. If you live in western mass you need to find your way here. Good challenge yet not overwhelming.
