Great Coarse for the Money
Good Coarse , Friendly Staff , wide open Played in 18 in less than three hours. Definitely play it again!!
Newport, not the same one I know!
I have recently moved to the area and this was the first time playing the course. At my old house there was a course also named Newport, however they are totally different.
Back to this course. WOW the greens were very nice and well kept, and there is NOT A LEVEL GREEN on the entire course. The pins today were in some very tough spots and most of them were on an edge of a shelf, so it made for some interesting putts. Fairways were in good shape, the tee boxes were somewhat rough, however with the weather it is understandable, plus you get to tee it up so does it really affect your shot? No. The course was well groomed and maintained in the areas that required it (greens, bunkers (green side) and fairways. I will play again as there were some holes that local knowledge helps! The only downside was that the 19th hole wasn't open due to COV19 (thanks!).
Great track and you need to play it!
Great day for 18
Took my son for the first time to play here. The course provides a lot of variety and challenges. A great layout with directional changes throughout. I always enjoy playing here.
Very pretty course with challenging layout
Other than the beat-up carts, you would never know this course has been having financial difficulty. It was very pretty and well maintained, despite the severe drought we are having in NH. Would love to play it again.
Fun track
The lack on rain is taking a bit of a toll on the fairways but I wouldn’t say it effected my round much. The greens were great! Old style course so not long but challenging enough with undulating greens.
Fairways are rough, No kitchen
Overall a pleasant experience. Moderately challenging course with lots of unique holes. Tee boxes were in ok shape, fairways were pretty poorly maintained. Greens were in good shape though. Unfortunately no working kitchen for an after round lunch.
Course heading downhill
Played this course about 5 times this year. The greens are in good shape. But the fairways and tee boxes need help. There are many fairways that have sections with no grass and and lots of brown hard turf. Tee boxes are beat up. Grounds crew do not pause while an individual is playing. Don't think I will be back again.
Good shape
Have not played this course in years, many improvements. Greens were fast and fun.
Pace of play was within 3 hours, excellent.
Excellent greens
Excellent for the money. An old country course. No one told us that the course has 3 holes across a busy highway. Other wise very pleasant and scenic. Excellent pace of greens that are demanding.
.
Lay out
Very interesting lay out. Front hilly ,open fairways for the most part. The back is flat, BUT ...water comes into play on most of the holes. Great value.
Beautiful scenery; wonderful course
We had a great day on the course. Conditions were excellent. Would have been nice, since it was our first time on the course, to have a course layout handy in the cart. Will likely be much more user friendly, for us, next time we go.
Great conditions, pro staff not wearing masks
Greens are in great shape and pace of play was fine but the young guy in the pro shop wasn’t wearing a mask while checking people in. Come on now..
Greens in good shape
Fairways were nice & green, tee boxes and bunkers need work. Overall great time and fun place to play. Very friendly & accommodating Pro.
100 Years of Golf History in Newport, NH
Newport Golf Club is a charming 100 year old New England style course with some challenging holes. Staff was friendly and the beer was cold. We had a great day and will be back.
