Bad shape
This course has really fallen off over the last few years. I will no longer be playing shaker farms. The tee boxes are dirt and the greens are all burned and spotted.
Not bad but needs work.
I love shaker farms cc. I learned how to play golf here and will most likely continue playing here just due to the memories. It's a beautiful course especially in the fall with all the wonderful trees. Sadly, I would have given it a 5 star if the greens were good but most of them are patchy and it's hard to putt well when there is so much grass missing. In addition, more care needs to be taken in order to make the fairways better and less blotchy. It would be nice if the bathrooms didn't smell and was actually cleane. But the course over all is one I like and go to frequently.
wedding function
Had our wedding here , I am so disgusted with the service rendered. Unprofessional management. Very poor. Would not recommend this for any function.
Cow Pastures are greener
Concrete tee boxes , sandy hard fairways and inconsistent greens with lots of dead spots. Pay a little more and play somewhere nicer.
Nice overall
I've seen plenty of coarse's but Shaker has the friendliest staff of all. The coarse needs some maintenance but other than that it was a nice pace of play and a nice coarse. I have no regrets coming and paying for my holes. I recommend riding. Take some extra balls also due to water hazards and long grass.
Great value for your money!
First time playing Shaker Farms and thoroughly enjoyed my round! The older man working in the pro-shop who we checked in with didn't seem too happy that we made reservations online and HE didn't have our information in his tee-time log. That aside, the cart I had was smoother and had more pick-up and go than others I've used in the past. There are some challenging blind tee shots on a couple holes as well as some blind shots to elevated greens. If you stray to far from the fairway, good luck finding your ball! The girl working at the bar/restaurant upstairs was very friendly and the chicken salad sandwich and Shaker chips were delicious! Didn't end up in any bunkers so I can't comment on them. The only repairs needed were on one of the greens as some of the grass had died off, a few run-up areas to the green in the fairway and a few tee-boxes weren't all that flat and had lost quite some grass. Overall the course was a fun challenge and a great value for what you pay for.
OK course... Just average maybe below.
Greens were ok... today I played another course... 1/3 the price... excellent condition.. Thought the price was up for course conditions. T boxes hammmered... greens spotty as far as condition.. Fairways really undefinable... Again, the price seemed above the course condition.
price is right
course has improved from last year but still needs some work.about 4 fairways need to be shut down add drainage and re seed.heck of a layout.for the price not bad.but this can be a really good course with better maintance.
every hole has a different look, witch I liked.
The only problem I see is when I showed up the starter didn't have any info on me or my starting time.,but was nice about it. that could change when they get busy.
Nice staff and friendly casual atmosphere.
I'm a new golfer and found certain holes to be quite a challenge for me. I thought it was well maintained and I liked the staff a lot. I believe it is a course that my game can grow with.
nice greens narrow fairways
staff exl, greens in good shape lots of hills fairways good shape saw people working on coarse
Greens looking good, tee boxes need work. Please change the par 5 #6.
good for the price, needs more work, but getting better.
Overall good course...
I have played this course now 4 times this year, and it is growing on me. The conditions of some of the fairways have a lot to be desired, in particular the 6th hole really has no fairway, it is just a bunch of dirt and weeds going up a hill... The back 9 is in great condition, with just some excellent scenery.... I also like the fact that they plan on endorsing some cart rules to keep the course in better shape....
Conditions extremely poor.
Conditions were extremely poor. Staff was very friendly. Even at the low rate offered, we will not return until the fall--if then.
Greens were well kept
Tee boxes and fairways are in poor condition. The greens were in good shape. It was a fair value for the GolfNow rate. I would have been disappointed if I paid full price.
Good Price
We got a deal to play 18 holes for $17. I cant imagine that we would have paid anymore to play this course. The grounds were in touch shape with many places that are not green, or not have grass at all. With that being said, this course is a fun challenge, with a very open front 9, and the back carved out of the woods.
Course is in need of some TLC.
Great G. Cornish design---one of his early creations. Weather affects the course conditions----best in the spring and fall. This summer has been tough on many courses, no exception here. Staff was very friendly. I always look forward to coming back to Shaker.
The greens here are fantastic!!!
Old school target golf at it's best with some of the best greens I've played in a long time. John informed me of the wet area on the 6th hole, and that was the only blemish I saw on the course. They are working on some drainage issues. Other than that, this is a very nice piece of ground and a Cornnish classic. Can't wait to get back and play it again!!!
Course is rounding into shape
Course is in much better shape than previous years. Most tee boxes were in fair condition. Fairways were better and all greens were in good condition. Fairway on the signature 6th hole was the worst. Very friendly staff in the pro shop and lounge. Two beers and two Mikes in the lounge were very reasonable at $11 and change.
Nice Layout
Nice course, However I played it on a day following 3 days of heavy rain. Front 9 fairways were extremely wet until you play the more elevated back 9. Other than that course was in nice shape.
Watch out for the gully in front of the green on 6. Stay right!!!
