Donald Ross Worth Seeking Out
Dating back to 1916, Cohasse is a ball to play. The nine holes feature a great mix of short, medium and long par-4s. The two par-3s are back-to-back, a Ross rarity, but have a distance difference of 70 yards. A quirky, cool par-4 ends the round.
A fun course to walk, the path that takes golfers from the seventh green to the eighth tee is pretty enough that you might find yourself stopping to take in the view of Cohasse Pond.
Cohasse is about an 8-minute drive off I-84, 20 minutes from the Mass Pike.
Not Friendly
only 9 holes, Greens are very nice. All downhill from there though...the staff is unfriendly and slow if you are looking to grab some food at the turn. Very uppity course in a derelict town which doesn't make much sense. Should be more of a blue collar course. Lots of blind shots and a few holes with poor layout.
-Does not allow junior members to play on morning weekends.
-Power hungry and entitled board running course into the ground and driving out members
-If you join today there's a good chance the course will go under by next year
-Discourages Fun
-Tournament director and his brother are toddlers
Play it if you can
Classic Donald Ross layout, about 100 years old. Only 9 holes but worth the play. Tees are separate 10 - 20+ yards the second time around. Excellent conditions, fairways, greens everything. Despite being in a drought in the area, everything was lush and green. Typical Donald Ross course, elevated greens, false fronts, subtle breaks in all of them. This is a private course but if you can get your pro to make a call and get you on, it's worth it. For those who have played Whitinsville, it will remind you of that. Kudos to the Head Pro Doug, and the Greens Superintendent and his staff. Restaurant is open to the public all the time.
