The best 9 hole Muni I've ever played

My home course, I play all the time, usually a five hole stretch I can get in on my lunch break. This course is the best natural golf parcel I've maybe ever played on. High on ledge above the city of Salem, it winds in a natural spiral starting long the outer boundary and working back in. Every hole in a different direction and you play every hole in near isolation from any other holes and golfers. Its the 9 hole Muni Pine Valley I'm telling ya. Course was made almost a hundred years ago by hand, tight in places, unreal natural undulations and mounding, and the superintendent is the best investment the city Salem has made. It gets just an incredible amount of play, but if you can get there off day off hours: fuggedaboutit. Place is genius. Par 3 2nd is all you'd ever want, as is the Par 5 4th: 550 yarder up a two tiered dog leg fairway that narrows to a corridor on the approach. Honestly I think the 3rd is the only hole you'd not consider a great golf hole. But it's still good. Place is a total gem.

Stunning unusual short course

I don't know what is behind these reviews but this place is fantastic. each hole has a ton of character - uphill, dogleg, downhill. so much to be strategic about. grass was in great shape. we went out at 5:30pm on a friday night and it felt sooooo slow but it was really only 2 hours to get around.

Great value and fun little gem of a course filled with character!

A Dump of a Municipal Course

Yeah, this course is going to be a "no" for me. It's a quick 9 hole that you can walk in an hour and a half. However, the condition was not acceptable. It was 50% grass and 50% hard dirt. The layout was under construction in a lot of parts. Overgrown in other parts. I hated it. Wouldn't go back even if it was free.

Nice local course

It's your average 9 hole muni course. Not long, nothing too challenging but a nice place to go for a quick 9.

I showed up without calling since I left my phone at home, the front desk simply asked me to go talk to started to see when I could get out. The starter ran over to the tee to see if the twosome would mind a third and I was good to go. A nice tough rather than saying see ya since I didn't have a tee time.

I plan on returning since it is right up the street, and it was in decent condition.
