Golf Advisor: Top Courses in Massachusetts (2018 #18)
Reviews
good value
third time i have played course and enjoyed the round all the more because familiarity with the layout helps the score. played under three hours on a hot sunday no less. this is a hidden gem in the hills. great staff and attitude.
Hidden Gem
This course is hidden in central Mass. but well worth the trip to find it. 18 beautiful holes. Narrow with a some short holes and long ones. Quite a few target holes with side hill lies and elevated greens. Some really pretty views of the country side. The pro shop folks are more than friendly as they helped us to get out earl so we woudll'nt be held up be held up behind a slow 4some. Accurate tee shots are a must. Golf now has some great weekday deals'
Great Day At Quail Hollow
Excellent golf round at Quail Hollow. Weather was perfect, course conditions were among the best I've seen this year after the extremely wet spring season. All around great day!
Great couse
Kudos to the grounds crew. Greens are great, very fast. Fairways are also in good condition. Pretty course with some easy and some difficult holes The traps could use some work but overall a great place to play.
Beautiful Course
First time and glad we did. No leaves on the trees yet but we could visualize how beautiful would be soon. One of the prettiest golf courses in N.E... My wife and I travel a lot and have played over 50 courses and we loved this one. Played on Thursday April 25th. Still some wet spots but not too many. The greens were in very good condition and Jason is great, welcoming and friendly. Average difficulty not too long but a good challenge for the average golfer.
Quail Hollow
Just an average track with a better back nine than front. Wouldn’t recommend it for better players.
Challenging mountain top course
Quail Hollow is a short par 70 course cut out of a mountain top. Walkers beware! Conditions were great even though the region has had record rainfall for months. Greens rolled fast and they are small so get your scoring irons ready. Only a couple par 5’s, but the variety of par 4 designs is the signature of Quail Hollow. Staff and members were welcoming. We didn’t eat, but we certainly had time as pace of play was incredibly fast as we finished 18 with a cart in just over 3 hours. Yes, just over 3 hours! If I lived 2 steps closer I’d be a member. If your fav club is a driver then this isn’t your course, but if you like vistas and a course that demands the use of many clubs in your bag, you must play Quail Hollow.
would not return
The woman who owns the course clearly doesn;t like GolfNow golfers. We played 18 holes. And went for 9 additional. When we went to the 10th tee to play some more. She said to be finished by 4 and to keep carts on cart path. We we were on the 11 green, the woman came out in a cart and said that NOW she remembered who we were. We were the Golf Now people. She doesn;t like Golf Now because they make no money from us. We left. We won;t return.
Fun Track
I would recommend this course to anyone. The greens were in great condition. The layout is fun. This is a shot makers' course. Not a course where you can bomb driver every hole. The staff in the Pro Shop were friendly and helpful.
Beautiful
New England trees and rolling hills makes for beautiful golf experience. True greens, fine fairways make scoring well possible . After heavy rains the day before, poor drainage affected hilly front nine less than valley lowlands.
If played in normal conditions expect the course to be ideal.
Fun layout and scenic
On the short side but tight holes, elevation changes, and hazards make it challenging. Great condition and very scenic surroundings. A fun and friendly course.
Great golf course for your short game
Great golf course for your short game.
I had an awesome time playing again on this golf course.
I had a car repair that needed attention during the morning from 8:00 AM - 10:30 AM when my tee time was at 9:30 AM. So, I called the Pro-shop and I explained the issue I was having and I asked if I could play at around 11:00 AM. They said YES.
So, I came and I played awesome round distraction free.
Great golf course to practice your short game
Great golf course to practice your short game and your iron shots.
This golf course has a driving range which is a PLUS!
Most of the fairways of this golf course are too narrow. The greens are smaller than in most golf courses. Hence, it will challenge your short game and your iron play.
Due to heavy recent rain, a lot of the spots of golf course were still in water.
Trees get in the way. Golf etiquette is an issue. I was paired with a smoker. The personnel, who were trimming the grass, were too close to the players.
Overall, I think it is a good golf course to practice your short game and your iron shots.
despite recent heavy rain the course showed no ill effects and the greens were very true
challenging layout
course was in good condition considering all the rain in previous days. greens are consistent and in good shape but will challenge the putter with slopes and contours. several of the front nine fairways had slopes so knowing the course and where to best play the ball will be challenging for a first time to course player. staff very friendly, especially pro shop and restaurant,
