Perfect!
Love the Corse! Staff is amazing!! I have family coming out to play the Corse in a Tournament soon and can’t wait for them to play here!!
Great Course, Poor Staff & GolfNow Support
First time on the island of Nantucket while on vacation with my wife for our anniversary. I wanted to sneak a round in on this beautiful, golfer friendly island (fun fact - there are 5 total golf courses on Nantucket, 4 are completely private and Miacomet is the only course on the island open to the public). Booked a tee-time as a SINGLE player with only 1 available spot left on GolfNow the day before. Booked my wife a spa morning during the same time.....Get to the course 45 mins early, check-in at pro shop, get cart, stretch, putt around, make friends with the starter while awaiting the other 3 golfers ("the 3some") booked same time as me. They finally show up to tee box 4 mins before our time, with FOUR TOTAL. 3 male members who had scheduled times and one of their wives, who was not a member and didn't have her name / tee time confirmed. They let the members and their female guest play and insisted I would get out. I waited over 50 minutes to pair up with a 3some making the turn , so i played the back 9 (holes #10-18) first, and then had to wait another HOUR AND A HALF to play the front 9, with yet another random 3some. Being a lone golfer and booking a single with 3 others is aways suspect, but NOTHING like this. I had to wait over 2 full hours in between "rounds" and was paired up with 2 separate groups (played 6 different individuals that day) and played the back first and the front last, with a 1+ hour "halftime" in between....The pro shop and GolfNow did nothing.
Island Golf
A great course if you can get a tee time (see course website for details, and book at the exact time they become available). It was extremely difficult to get any beverages (beer or water) while playing. We tee'd off at 2pm and the snack bar was closed by 4pm in peak august, which i found ridiculous (please correct me if i am wrong), there was not beverage cart going around at all our entire round, however;
Fairways: Pretty easy to find the fairway (its not super tight), but managing the wind was a bit difficult for me when I played.
Bunkers: Simply amazing, beautiful and everywhere
Greens: Not very big, but not small either and rolled consistently for the most part
Cost: $175 with a GPS cart, which is a little steep, but seems be to the going rate for top ranked state public courses.
Pace-of-play: Very slow on our front nine, until we played through the group in front of us. 2.5 hrs on front nine, a little under 2 on back nine.
Serene linksy beauty
If you're lucky enough to spend some time on Nantucket but not elite enough to get on one of the island's private club courses, don't feel bad. The only public 18-hole course isn't your average crab grass muni, it's a real gem and a joy to play.
It has an open layout without many trees, which gives it a links-style feel and links-style whipping winds, especially playing in the fall. It's one of the best-maintained public courses I've ever played, with immaculate fairways and greens. No water but plenty of sand and fescue to make you pay the price for every missed fairway. It's walkable but you'll want to stretch and bring some snacks, your Fitbit will let you know that you covered some ground.
Great staff and great layout
For $50 to walk during the offseason, you won't find a better deal! The conditions were even impressive for mid April on Nantucket. Not sure how the greens get in the summer but "links" golf means kind of slow and possibly bumpy greens and I was impressed with their reception of a shot. It was 25-45 mph winds the dsy I played and shooting 76 off the tips never seeing the course, I'll take it! Just have to play smart and hit to the wide parts of the fairways and the fat sides of the green. Lastly, the staff was very friendly and down to earth. From the woman in the back office to the people behind the counter. I definitely think $170 in the summer would be steep but it's Nantucket and you have a captive audience.
Hidden gem on the gray lady
What a pleasant surprise it was to play this course during my week's vacation on Nantucket. You get everything that you could think of when playing Miacomet, everything from the amazing views to the landscape to the challenge all rolled into one. Every hole on this course is surrounded by high fescue grass making it a shot makers course from your first tee shot to your last approach shot. I luckily was able to play with two members of the course who walked me around and gave me all the information I needed for an enjoyable day. I would recommend this course to anyone planning to be on Nantucket or Cape Cod as it is one of my top five courses in the state of Massachusetts. Play smart, play safe and enjoy your day at Miacomet
Greens are the best you'll find at any time of year. Rolling at 12 and true in the summer. Not slow and bumpy
