Bogeyman's assessment is quite accurate. This course has an amazing amount of variety in terrain and hole style. Timing can be tricky. The best time to play is mid week before 3PM. They have a hard core membership which can be found on the course in the early mornings as well. A true working man's course which means FAST play. I'm a walker so I don't play this course as much as I'd like. If you're not in good shape or play slowly rent a cart and save yourself some grief. The staff is very friendly and knowledgeable. Prices are average. If you want to partake in many different types of tournaments this place and the Winchendon School Golf course down the road are ideal.

Nicely conditioned Municipal which provides a good value for the dollar. Greens Fees and membership programs are a bargain.

Front nine is pretty open and provvides some good scoring opportunities as well as an easy walk. Back nine iss hilly, tree lined with tighter fairways and is a tougher walk.

Pro shop staff seems freindly and knowledgeable.

Significant downsides include Slow play, difficulty getting tee times especially on weekends. Too many tournaments which are mostly frequented by members make it diffcult for walk ons to play this gem. Also, many of the tournaments and events are multi day events. It almost seems like this place goes out of its way to discourage out of town walk on business.

Many of the regulars which include members are not too friendly and in some cases borderline rude.

Best bets for non members and out of town walk ons is to find a day when its not crowded and theire are no tournaments or outings going on.
