Robert T. Lynch Municipal - Brookline Golf Course
About
Brookline Golf Course at Robert T. Lynch Municipal sits on a parcel of land that was originally designated by the town as a bird sanctuary. Many varieties of birds still call the course home. The course is part of the Putterham property, which also includes Brookline Golf Club. It may be difficult to get into the renowned Brookline Country Club, the owner of Putterham Meadows, but Brookline Golf Club and the Robert T. Lynch Course provide great public options. The Robert T. Lynch Course is smaller than the other public golf course at Putterham, but it is no less challenging. The fairways are seemingly open and flat, but don't be fooled because placement within them is key if you don't want any blocked angles. The tricky greens are often elevated, and some are multi-tiered. The golf course may be short, but it's a formidable test.

Don't waste your time
We are from Pennsylvania and were up in Massachusetts to visit our friend and decided to play a round at Brookline. Right off the bat the fairway on the first hole were destroyed and filled with dead grass and enormous patches of dirt. We also paid a fee of $39.00 to play but fees are usually $50.00. The course rate should be a dollar a hole to even come remotely close to having decent value. Like I said don't waste your time on this poor unkempt course
Sandy Greens
Putterham has been one of my favorite muni courses for quite sometime. If you can deal with a slower pace of play, and sometimes waterlogged conditions, then this can be a fun course. I recommend getting out at 6:30 AM to avoid long rounds. I recently played 9 holes and I have to say the conditions were miserable. Every hole was covered in sand. On top of that they were charging people full price to play. Golf courses need to adjust their rates per the conditions of their course, no one should be paying full price when the greens aren't playable.
Golf only if you can get a deal...
Course conditions are pretty bad. There were some holes that were decent but the first hole pretty much sums it up - patches of just dirt, nasty green, and look like everything is growing wild all around it. Showed up for a 6:10 am round....arrived maybe 5:45 - no one was around - clubhouse closed...no showed up until maybe 6:20-6:30. Not very friendly - busy chatting with a local buddy or someone. Overall - not a good place to golf - only thing I can say is that paid $25 bucks with cart so that's about all that made it bearable. I think I may have overpaid. hahah
Putterham delight!
I had an early T-time (7:10 AM), which gave me an excellent value. The staff were very accommodating and friendly. I played the back 9 and each hole was more spectacular. I was very impressed with how well the fairways and greens were maintained. I will play here again, soon! I am eager to see the front 9.
Putterham
As anyone who plays it knows, Putterham has a fair amount of problems with drainage and course conditions in general - starting with the first, hole, a terrible introduction. Lots of barren dirt patches. Things do improve. Greens uneven. Some bumpy, some smooth. It's definitely overpriced at the normal $60 w/ cart, but at the GolfNow $29 w/ car,t, a fair deal.
Great course to play
Played the day after a huge storm, so had to walk 18, and the fairways were still wet in some places.
Narrow fairways, but overall a good balance of challenging tee shots, and open approach shots.
Great course to play, not too expensive, great staff, great value!
Course can use some work
I actually liked the layout of the course. You could tell that in its heyday it was a very nice course. Unfortunately a few of the greens were burned out and quite a few sand traps were over grown with grass and did not resemble bunkers any longer. With a little work this could be a very nice municipal course.
Cheap course
If you're looking to play on an "okay" course, Robert T Lynch is for you. The first few holes had very every large patches of dirt and gravel in the middle of the fairway, giving us a terrible first impression. But the worst part about the course is the pace of play. It seems the golf-demographic that's attracted to this course consists of Sunday hackers and people who don't even know golf etiquette. Specifically, my buddy and I (twosome) had to quit after 9 holes, forgoing the rest of our paid round, because the groups in front of us were so slow. Really- 3 hours for 9 holes slow.
Too Slow, Poor Conditions
3 hours to play the front 9. No ranger to push anyone along. Many greens had no grass, weeds, bare spots, extremely hard to putt. Very expensive for such poor playing conditions
Putterham
The course was in fairly good shape, a little wet in some areas and others real dry and hard. The first few greens were in tough shape but they got better as you played.
Gross day, good course
My roommates and I tried to play through the rain on Friday morning but it was just too gross out. Although it was rainy and hard to see, the course was in great condition and the grounds crew was out on various holes the whole time we were playing. I will be back when the weather is nicer to actually see how the course plays.
Nice course - slow Sunday
Slow play but to be expected on a beautiful Sunday afternoon only 6 miles from Boston. Staff was nice. 39 bucks for 18 + cart isn't bad given the proximity to the city.
Course actually plays pretty long for a city course.
Not the best manicured course (hairy greens and some "backyard" rough), but I don't mind those type of conditions for a friendly round.
Will for sure play here again.
Putterham
Putterham is a good course. I have played it many times over the past few years. It won't blow you away by any means, and its condition is often lacking, but it is a fun course to play for a reasonable price.
Not bad public course
The fairways and tee boxes for the most part are pretty good. The greens could use work.,
Great Course!
Really enjoyed this course. The rangers made sure to keep players moving which helped greatly. Only criticism would be the very wet fairways on some holes. But overall, great time and will certainly be back again.
Easy 18 on a Tuesday
Fun municipal course close to downtown Boston. No driving range:(
Wet but playable
So, it rained the night before so the course was wet but the course was very playable, all except for 2 or 3 holes. There was 1 hole, the 14th, that the fairway should have been closed on or should have been changed too a long par 3/short par 4. Other than that, it was a very fair test.
What a dump
First off, I had a 6:00 tee time. No one showed up to open the pro shop until 6:10.
The green were terrible lots of ball spots, same with the fairways and tee boxes but at least they had grass.
Fairways full of bumps and sink holes to the loin where you can split the fairway with a drive and still lose your ball.
Trash cans on every tee overflowing with beer cans.
I get it, it's a muni - the worst one I have played in a whole.
If I had paid $30 it wouldn't have bothered me so much, but I paid $49 plus golf now fees. (Which is their normal rate - no discount for early morning or golf now).
Don't waste your time or money on this one.
Not worth the $$
Do not pay $61 to play here. The course simply not worth it compared to other local comparable courses
First of season at Brookline
Staff has done a good job getting the course in shape given the hard Winter and wet spring.
