A Tale of Two Nines That Does Not End Well
This course is very close to my house, but I cannot bear playing here that often. I will not play it on a busy weekend or on a super discount day, because it can be a torturous, 3 hour 9 hole round. On a quiet evening it can be worth playing the front 9. The new owners, the Murphy's, are keeping it in good shape, but the unique design by a handcuffed Brian Silva cannot be overcome. Most holes require an iron off the tee to a specific target and then a precise approach shot to a small, undulating green. The 5th hole is a good par 4 that you can hit driver on, just be aware of the pond on the right and thick woods on the left. I do not play the back 9 anymore, as is the case with many people. It is a hike just to get to the 10th tee and once on your way it is a series of unusual holes that will have you questioning why you are out playing them. It is a horror show of design with harsh slopes and unknown landing areas. If you are a single digit handicap with a curious nature, you MAY enjoy the backside at Bradford. I wish there was a solution for this course to become a decent 18 hole track, but I think that is impossible. Bradford does offer deep discounts on golfnow.com, but just understand that a bargain does not always make for an enjoyable round of golf.
Good times
Course was in pretty good shape. Back nine is WAY better than the front. Almost feels like a different course. It's short though - I think I pulled out the driver on 3 holes and I'm not a long hitter. Layout keeps it interesting though.
Play was slow, but I think that was due to a foursome in front of us and might not be indicative of the usual pace.
Staff was amazing from the pro shop to the starter to the bar. I got 3 beers and a hot dog for $16, too - you can't beat that!
Great day
Beautiful day on the course. Everyone was very friendly. Course was in great condition but the greens were very sandy. Expected this time of year. Overall great day
Great course to use all clubs playing from the Blues
I enjoy playing Bradford CC from the blue tees. I can grip it and rip it, or lay up and use longer irons for approach shots. The layout is tight but makes you a better/ smarter player. And when Golf Now offers it up for $17 for a twosome for 18 with cart, who can pass that up? Not me!
Very nice course
Beautiful this time of yr. with leaves turning colors, course very well maintained, one of the nicer courses around, second time I played here in the fall this season, via Golf Now specials.
Target golf, bring your tarts.....
The course is ok to play. But it's target golf on a lot of holes .you need to hit to small areas on 10, 12, and 13. The greens are in really great conditions, but a lot of unkept areas around the greens. Fairways ok, but nothing special. No driving range, and cart parts are a bumpy ride. Worth the price if only under $30 . Would not pay full price to play in a field with 18 sticks stuck in the ground. This is a course that if you hit all the target spots, you can shoot a 79, as I did one day. Or a 91 as I also managed to do. Lost about 6 balls that round, but found 15 in the woods. The 19 th hole was ok, but only 1 person behind the bar and he was also doing the cooking.....the best part of my round was when I got in the car.....
Good course if you get a deal
I paid a ridiculously low price from GolfNow ($18 w/ cart) so for that price, it was outstanding. Not sure it's worth full price but it was a pretty well-maintained course. Really strange layout on the front 9, driving through neighborhoods and cul-de-sacs, and there weren't a ton of driver opportunities (I'm not a big hitter but played the blues and still found it to be a bit short), but no complaints from me.
More challenging than you expect
A beautiful place to play. Back 9 makes the front 9 seem like a breeze.
Nice greens
Course was in good shape but it was a long round due to a fog delay earlier in the day.... Greens were nice and rolled smooth fairways were in good shape but a few tee boxes were pretty rough. The course is pretty short but narrow in spot and demand accurate shots.... I like playing here a few times a year although there are better options in the area.
Excellent condition
Great course nice practice area good neighborhood
Ranger very active ...perfect place to play
For $35 it was worth it!
Paid 35 bucks on golf now. Normally it's 62 to ride. I would not pay this much when there are better courses in the area. Overall it was a good experience. Course is well maintained and the staff was friendly.
awsome course, but I am biased I live 1 mile from here
Great condition, don't go out of bounds the poison ivy keeps the ball hawkers out of the woods(love that) using your irons will keep you in play
Well maintained and challenging design
Check-in was a breeze. Staff was friendly and helpful. Course is well maintained. This course offers a unique and unconventional layout. The terrain is hilly and hazards abound. This course requires pinpoint accuracy. Course management is paramount here. Use an iron off the tee to shoot a low score. There are considerable distances between some of the holes. Unless you're training for a marathon you'll definitely want a golf cart.
Pleasantly surprised
I liked the course and was pleasantly surprised. The greens are big but challenging
Hidden Gem
I never new about this place until today and I am impressed. The course is not overly long but you must be accurate. There are some holes you can hit driver on which is nice. I hate courses that don't have driver holes. This course makes you think off the tee and into the green. Real interesting holes and great fun. Great conditions and beautiful scenery.
Hidden Gem
I remember before arriving that new ownership was paying dividends to the golf course, and they were right. The staff was awesome, the beverages were cold (especially from the tap, the fridge must of been at 36 Degrees Fahrenheit exactly), and the golf course was in impeccable condition. The bartender even let us borrow a cooler to store beverages for the back nine. Looking forward to returning soon!
Nice condition
Great condition of fairway and putting green!
Very very nice condition
Thank you
We found that it was a great experience and a must to return.
My wife and I played the Bradford CC and it's a must play again.
The front nine was challenging, however the back nine was incrediable. I felt as though I could touch the sky on the 10th. tee.
Also the staff members are a unique team.
Challenging course in great condition
Bradford country club was in excellent condition - greens were smooth and fast. Fairways were in great shape. The new management has obviously put money back into the course!!
As always the layout is tough, especially on high handicap players. Poor shots are punished with several forced carries. When you hit it off the fairway be prepared to take a drop - it is often impossible to find your ball.
With this difficulty pace of play becomes an issue - we played through on group of slow guys and after 3 holes were a full 2 holes ahead of them. We were able to play the front nine in 2 hours (after playing through on #3), We hit another logjam on the 11th and after that - ouch - an almost 3 hour back nine - On a hot, busy sunday afternoon there was no ranger in sight after the 11th hole - Beverage cart made 2 passes on the front nine but was not seen for the whole back nine.
Tight fairways, fast greens and beautiful scenery!!!!
All the Staff at Bradford were super friendly. Fairways are tight so leave the big stick in the bag as much as you can. Very well maintained, super fast greens. You will have a challenging day here... Watch out for the 12th hole, it's a doozy. I would definitely play Bradford again.
