Crestview Country Club
Amazing course for the money! Played really well and fairways and greens were in incredible shape even for Covid 19 era. I totally understand why they had a US Open qualifying round there
A retro throwback with good bones
I grew up on a Geoffrey Cornish course, and while experience has showed my the limitations of his work, there's an endearing simplicity to it that I believe makes it underrated, especially as part of the supposed "Dark Ages" of course design.
Crestview is a former private club that has seen better days, but I enjoyed playing it and hope it can be spared the ravages of recent history in the industry. It was in good shape and the stately, meandering design charmed me, though it could do with some tree removal and better mowing lines.
Do Not Pay to Play this golf course
The conditions of this golf course were a complete embarrassment. The rough was uncut, the fairways were full of tire ruts and uncut long grasses. The bunkers had no sand and were completely full of mud and water. The water hazard was overcome with algae and the cart paths were completely non-navigable. This property is in complete disrepair and it is obvious that the owners either do not have the money to maintain it or they just don't care . It is a complete embarrassment that they took my money. DO NOT PLAY.
White tees play a little long at 6,300 +. Longer par 4s but some short par 5s. Greens in great shape with lots of break. Beware of cart paths - horrible. Use the grass instead.
Great greens
Course is challenging, but very fair. The greens are famyastic and run at close to an 11. The only knock on tje course is that the bunkers need new sand.
Great conditions awesome clubhouse overlooking the 18th green
Perfect day ended with drinks on the patio overlooking the 18th green while acoustic music being played we will be back!!!
Only complaint are the cart paths are really rough so your bouncing all day long. Played the back 9 only.
Great Time
We had a great day playing Crestview on 9/23. The pro shop staff was friendly and helpful. The course was beautiful with some of the best greens ive played on all year. Challenging but not overly difficult for the mid-handicapper and 5 tee boxes so the tee box can be played that's right for you. Overall a great course that I would love to play again.
Crestview treat
Crestview is one of the finest courses in Western Massachusetts with friendly staff and ideal course conditions. We love playing there although it's a little bit more expensive than other courses in the area. GolfNow makes the course more affordable for retirees and young adults. My only criticism is that the cart paths are in terrible condition and should be replaced.
Deceptively tough
Very nice Geoffrey Cornish track, but not promoted very aggressively. Beautiful fairways, rough cut fairly high, but generally open. Bunkers were really hard and packed sand - for this price I would have expected these to be fluffed up at least. The greens were beautiful, well groomed and fast, but very sloped and somewhat undulating - extremely hard to read. My group of bogey golfers saw ONE par and ONE birdie all day, mostly attributable to the greens. For public playability, I'd recommend letting the greens get a little slower so missed putts don't slide off the green.
Solid course
This was my second time playing Crestview. Overall the course was in solid shape. It was after recent rain so a little wet in spots but overall it was good. The entire back 9 was top dressed, so putting through sand was a challenge, but overall I wouldn't say an absolute negative. I had a 7:10am tee time and was by myself, joining another group, but I was there early and the pro let me go out by myself. Played in about 3 hours, two balls on most holes. Course was not overly challenging though, played the black tees and didn't hit it off the tee that great, but still was able to score. I would definitely recommend the course for value.
nice layout
played here today for the first time. all employees (bag assistant, starter & pro shop staff were extremely friendly. conditions were great, even for early in year. greens were smooth and rolled true. fairways were good with minimal divot holes. the rough was rough as it was uneven and hadn't appeared to be cut in a while. bunkers were hard pack and a little rocky, though playable. cart paths showed their age (but not going to the course to ride the cart) so not a big deal. we only saw a water cooler on hole 10 and no beverage cart, which seemed unusual on a sunday.
will definitely play here again as course will probably be in better condition once everything grows in.
