Challenging
A challenging course. Great value. Friendly, helpfull staff.
nice views
The front tees are 5200 yds - too short for the men too long for the ladies. The back tees are 6200 - too long for the men. The guys used some forward tees and some back tees so worked out ok. Could I guess, set an acceptable pattern on which tees to play if one would play there regularly. Hilly course and challenging. Greens in good shape. Fairways bumpy.
Scenic Challenge
Course provided a real challenge to all levels of play. Today's wind added a degree of new challenge. Will definitely be back to play again.
Good Value
We enjoy playing new courses and this experience was no exception. We received a great rate at GolfNow giving us a good value as it was a 45 minute drive. Playing 18 holes on a 9 hole course can be an issue at the turn, changing the rate or rythym of play when those making the turn do not given priory.
On our home courses (27 holes) those making the turn do and pace of play is not interrupted. It works!
Isn't it common golf courtesy?
Fun course
Nice couse, not a lot of sand traps which I like. Some elevated tee boxes which I like. I always play this couse when in town and have played with some really nice people.
PG VINNY
Woke up at 0520 and got a Hot Deal for 0707 hrs. The course was recommended to me by a local golfer and it did not disappoint. Besides being beautiful setting it was a lot of fun to play. Greens were very good, fairways bumpy but plenty of green. As I normally play very flat courses in NJ and Florida the elevations (up and down) were interesting and scenic. The different tee boxes make it feel more like an 18 than a lot of other 9 hole courses. Will definitely come back next August on vacation. Staff very cordial!
My new favorite 9 hole course
This is my new favorite 9 hole course. Fantastic conditions and the staff was great. Very long and challenging holes. Will be playing it again this season.
Bumpy, and Tough
Second time here. Played here in 2014 and then now July 2016.
The course is incredibly bumpy, very different from Rockland Golf Club in that regard. You need to take it pretty slow in their golf carts. The lawnmowers, rollers, and carts must take a serious beating due to the terrain.
The staff was super friendly, and the rates from GolfNow ($30 per player) were about as much as I would spend. The summer rates do not seem worth it.
The course is in great shape, though is treacherously difficult. The "front nine," you play the 9 hole course from the white tees. It's not bad, but you can easily make a triple bogey and feel like you parred. The greens are super hard and don't hold long shots (5i from 194 with a prov1 hit the green and bounced off), but they roll well.
The "back nine" you play from the blue tees and you can score from here.
The bumpy fairways and hard greens, combined with a 30mph sea breeze caused me to score a 90. I didn't feel like I played that poorly, but I would assume that score to be around an 82-83 at a course with a bit softer conditions. I will play here again, but not often, and not for over $30 per round.
Fun golf.
All good, old school golf. Fun, very scenic. Must play when in area. Best shape we have ever seen.
Do not waste your time
I played the course while in the area for vacation. The lay out is not bad but they change tees for some holes depending if your on the front or back side (only a 9 hole course). Nobody in the pro shop explained this to me before teeing off and the gps didn't know the difference. Also the blue and white tee markers where all over the place. Sometimes the blue was ahead of the white and sometimes they where not. They do seem to have the only driving range in the area so I went back to hit some balls a couple days later. They charged 8 dollars for a bag that was 3/4 full and then when I walked over to the range a guy mowing the grass in the range yelled at me that the range was closed. I guess they are more interested in cutting grass then making money. If your in town for a vacation do your self a favor and do not waste your time and money with this course. The course is nothing special and the staff is rude and not help full.
Nice 9 Hole Course
The course is a well maintained 9 Hole course. Moderate difficulty. Good practice course. with friendly stall
A Hidden Gem in mid-coast Maine
If you get the chance play Goose River Golf Club in Rockport, Maine. While it is just 9 holes, it plays like 18 because you play each hole from different tee-boxes on the back nine. Tee-boxes, fairways and greens are in excellent condition. All leaves had been removed from fairways and roughs when we played Oct 27 & 28, 2015. The course is 50 years old and was once a dairy farm with Goose River meandering throughout the course.. The course was developed by the dairy farmer and fairways are not flat but have many moguls that require slow moving carts. The food service had shut down during our play that was only a day or two from the course closing for the winter.

We play here on vacation once each year and The course was in very good condition this season.
spectacular views
I'm a native of this area but I stop frequently to take in the views when I'm on this course. This is the best way to play golf.
