Pretty decent course

Interesting course they put together here. It's fun overall and makes great use of the total real estate. I like how several holes can be played two different ways, even though it's technically a 9 hole course.

Pace can get very bad. Most times I play here you've got to wait for the person in front of you to tee off.

Good players will find this course easy I think. I'm not a good player so it's challenging enough for me.

Overall, it's fun but you're going to find that most other courses are simply nicer and more inspiring. This is good for what it is, a quick local 9 hole joint, but it's really nothing too special.

Golf day

I really enjoy playing here. It’s 10 minutes from my home and a great price . Recorded a 98 here on this day, tied my career record for 18 holes. Great place to play and challenging.

Over Booked

While I love the location, views, and in general fun course that this is… Farmingbury has a booking / reservation problem. We had to play a 3 hour 9 hole round; booked for 18. We made the turn and immediately were sitting 2 foursomes deep at 1/10 and then get to 11 and are 3 foursomes deep. We then decided to ditch it as we didn’t need a 4 hour 9 hole round on top of the earlier round. We went back to let them know about the back-up and just found the cashier rude. You would think that with the family type atmosphere customer service would be norm and not the exception. Too bad.

Short and quick

Great short course. Pace of play wasn't worth the money.

Solid Golf in Wolcott

Having reviewed Farmingbury Hills numerous times, I can add only little, really, to previous comments. What sums up the challenge, I think, is a combination of several traits: raised green complexes (especially will falloffs on one side, the other, or in back) big rolling contours on every fairway, cleverly canted greens with plenty of undulations, along with the placement of sentinel trees–along the line of play–that are near or in the fairway. The par-4s are not long but are deceptively tough; each of the two par-3s is a challenging GIR; the one par-5 is long enough to be a three-shotter for most players. A couple of holes are threaded through woods, but water is barely a factor on this strong old-school design, whose architect is unknown. It’s a natural layout that uses the contours of these hillsides optimally. This is golf that will keep you on your toes–while you enjoy it.

Conditions were strongest on the greens and fringes, which were uniformly excellent–the best I’ve seen them here. Fairways and tees were generally good, as were the roughs, despite a bit too much clover in places.

The young lady I met this morning at the check-in counter was friendly, personable, and helpful in every respect. I was happy with the experience and will return before long.

Need to book less tee times

Worst pace of play I’ve ever experienced. Waited at least 5 minutes on every shot, mostly closer to 10 minutes. 3 groups on every hole. After taking almost an hour to play the first 2 holes and having 2 groups waiting on the 3rd tee, I asked if I could just come back to play another day and was rudely told no.

Layout was average for a 9 hole course in CT.

Conditions of greens were bad, fairways decent in most places, rough was either thick or just dirt.
