Private course for public play
The greens are fast, true and very well kept. Also, the fairways are lush and there is never a bad lie. And for the money, there is no better deal around.
This is a must play!
use of all your clubs
great course.in excellent condition.dont be above the hole for putts
Tower Ridge CC
Great day good course . Very challenging on a lot of holes made me step up my game. Would highly recommend to friends and coworkers .
Nice Course
A nice course with some tricky fairways up on the ridge and a number of interesting par threes... what breaks your concentration though are the sporadic gun fires from the shooting range nearby...
Great value
A very nice, challenging, course for every level of golfer. fantastic views but Tower ridge needs a ranger pushing play along. Very, very, slow round with no option to speed it up, just way to backed up. Please get a ranger to push groups along, allow people with places to go the chance to play their round ?
Tower Ridge
Good condition, not for walking as the majority of course is on the side of a mountain. Most greens are sloped and run fast. Placement of tee shots on blind holes is critical. Fun course.
Great views
Excellent value thru golf now.com. Challenging course with beautiful views of Talcott Mountain and the Heublein Gower.
Potential
Course and facilities definitely had a 1960s feel. Holes were not well marked and the directions were mostly spray painted on the cart paths. Greens were in great shape but tee boxes and fairways needed work. Overall, it was an average course with excellent views from some holes.
Scenic course
This course was in great shape and the first three holes make the course look somewhat easy; that is until you get to #4 and on. I liked the sloping greens; a lot of them slope from back to front. Depending on pin placement you may need to play short. This was my 1st time palying here and wouldn't hesitate to go back.
I read some of the reviews prior to my play and noted a lot of people complaining about the state police firing range near the course. We could hear the firing but was not distracting to me or my playing partner, as others stated. Finished just under three hours.
great layout and pace of play
I really enjoyed my latest round at Tower Ridge. The course was in excellent shape and the pace of play was such that I played 18 holes in 2 1/2 hours! The starter sent me off the back so I was able to fly through the round. The greens were all consitant and and in great shape.
Round spoiled by shooting sound
A late Sat evening decision to play an early Sunday morning round had me using Golf Now to find a tee time. First time playing this course tucked into the side of a mountain. We were paired with another twosome that helped explained where to aim on the numerous blind landing areas. We were told they cut down a lot of the tall grasses recently and so the course was playing easier. There were many dog leg rights that played well into my left to right shaped drives. Fairly enjoyable round until the loud reports of echoing gunshots of rifles and automatic pistols rang out from a nearby shooting range. It was almost non-stop for the last 8 holes. It made for some funny comments at first -" like that drive sounded like a cannon" - and so forth, but it got old real fast. I won't go back. I like the peacefulness of golf. and this experience spoiled that.
Great experience tempered by other factors
Course was in very good condition. Interesting assortment of challenging holes. Very slow pace of play which may have been partially caused by the challenges of the course. Hearing automatic weapons, shot gun blasts and handguns firing at the nearby police shooting range was very distracting.
No restaurant or beer cart
no food or drink until after 11 on a Sunday!! no beer cart at all!
mountain goat course
you will not have a level stance all day-if off the fairway at all you may not find your ball-very high grass. greens are good and fast. you may get lost going from 1 hole to another-you really need directions playing this course.
Short but challenging
This course was short but still challenging and fair. Pace of play was ok however I can see that it can become a problem there.
Very friendly staff.
Staff was very friendly. Course is very well groomed. Will play it again.
Great course
I loved this course. There are some really interesting holes and you will need to hit every club in the bag. Walking was a good workout, it is a bit of a "goat path", so maybe I will take a cart next time.
Course in nice condition
Although the course layout is tight, it played wide open and the fairways and greens were in great shape. The course needs to improve distance markers throughout. Some blind tee shots and hilly approaches made club selection iffy at times.
Enjoyed the course and plan on playing there again this year.
A Challenging Early Season Round
Overall, the course is in very good shape. The greens have not recovered fully from the winter. But, they are very playable and quick. We payed mid-day during mid week and played in about 3 1/2 hours. No one behind and the two-some in front of us let us play through with no issues. The white tees were placed well forward. Really too far forward in some instances. In summary, the course is in good shape, offers some challenging holes with a good pace of play.
