Connecticut Golf in December
Rain the previous day resulted in no carts allowed.
The course was wet but playable. The greens had the small aeration holes that did not interfere with putting.
Nice Track
Played Mid-nov..great day and condition
Love the layout
COURSE IN GREAT SHAPE
THE COURSE WAS IN GREAT SHAPE
Like the course
Unfortunately the weather men were wrong. It was supposed to be in the mid 40's sunny and no wind. It was very cloudy and with a lot of wind. It was very uncomfortable. We left after the 13th.
great value
excellent course for the price. staff very friendly. course is challenging unless you're a long hitter.
Good Round for all but my score
the course needs some rain, the fairways are getting spotty, the greens were in good shape but a little slow, I think they needed to press them, we had a good rate of play, the 4 of us hit a 4hr and 10 min round
anyone considering to play here should do it
Orange Hills
The course was in good shape considering we have not had rain in a while...Actually got off 15 minutes early and the round was about 5 hours...It was a great day on the course and would go back again
Nice course
Course was in decent shape considering the lack of rain in the area. Greens rolled true but slow. Pace was excellent until we ran into the back of an outing still we finished in 4.5 hrs.
A Keeper
A very pleasant place to play. Has a homey feel to it.
Conn visit
Course was nice but had a few blind shots that with known yardages and overall view of holes would make club selection better. The course itself was in rough shape with what appeared to be excessive water damage, bunkers were in need of work with possiblely more sand. Greens appeared to be nice but needed more speed to be challenging, but overall had a good time in spite of the slow pace of play.
Bob
I will play it again. Thanks
Orange Hills
Arrived at 7:30 for a 7:45 tee time. Paid for my tee time and was told they wanted to pair us with another twosome teeing off now. We said that was fine and made our way to the tee box. Hand the starter slip to the starter and he promptly yells at us saying it was nice of us to show up on time. We said wait a minute we have a 7:45 tee time and it was only 7:40 that we were accomodating the club by starting early. He kept being rude saying we were supposed to be 7:37 even after we offered proof from our golfnow reservation. He said he didn't have time for it. The whole start was very off putting for the rest of the round that I doubt I will be returning. Nice course just a very rude staff.
I read the comment that was recently posted and disagree with those comments. Five minutes before at the tee box is enough time especially when Mathew and his partner agreed to go early. The starter has no right to have an attitude, with a paying customer even if the customer may be wrong, however this did not seem to be the case. As for the owner and the head pro being in the CT golf hall of fame congratulations to them but what does that have to do with this?
Walking into the clubhouse to check in 15 minutes before your tee time and then strolling up to the tee 5 minutes before is disrespectful. The starter and other golfers who are ready to play in the group behind you are standing around wondering if you are going to show at all. Put yourself in the starters shoes. He spends all day trying to adjust to no shows, fill ins etc. If your going to play golf, act like a golfer and can the inconsiderate, "I paid my money, so your lucky I'm even here" attitude. BTW. The people who own this course, and the head pro, are all in the CT Golf Hall of Fame.
Good Condition
The course was in good condition. As noted previously, there is not enough sand in most traps and the greens were a little slow. This course is a little too hard for the average golfer due to many blind shots and out of bounds on nine holes. Grassy Hills, also in Orange, is a little more forgiving.
Very enjoyable course
I like this course. The bunkers are the only weak point: they need more "real" sand.
The staff is helpful and friendly.
Good day!
Course was in good shape. Greens a bit slow. Sand a bit hard.
Walkers on a Sunday?
Very nice course in very good shape. But, having walkers out on a Sunday made the round way too long.
I like to walk on occasion too but mid day on a weekend led to too many waits on the tee.
Excellent course and layout
Great course, friendly staff and played with two very friendly golfer that I never met before on this course. Love to go back and play again when I have time.
Nice course if you have all day
Had a 12:15 tee time. Arrived early but place was jammed. Somehow the people in line to check in with no tee time were let out before us. Took almost 3 hours for the front nine. No rangers moving anything along. Golf is no fun at all at that pace
Early In Season
It is still early in season so greens being a bit inconsistent and some fair amounts of bare patches in rough is not the end of the world. Get this addressed and keep speed of play no longer than 4 hours ( took us 4:25) and rating goes up. Nice People.
But how was the course? This is GOLF advisor not weather advisor. We come on here for course conditions, staff, layout, green speeds, etc.
